Another successful luau-themed fundraiser event was held on July 27th at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center. This annual event attracted well over 500 people, bringing together law enforcement, community sponsors and local residents for a fun-filled evening of interactive exhibits, silent and live auctions and recognition program recognizing officers and members of the community who performed above and beyond this past year.
This year was a very special evening as CVPD Officer David Sachs was awarded the Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery, one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a law enforcement officer in the United States. This prestigious award was presented by Robert Brewer, United States Attorney for the Southern District of California, and U.S.
Representative Juan Vargas of the 51st Congressional District of California.
While the event is an important fundraiser for the Foundation, it is an even more important way to tell the story of the dedicated men and women that make CVPD great. The positive feedback and comments this year were amazing, and those who attended came away with a better understanding of the outstanding work that the Chula Vista Police Department does each day in service to the community.
On behalf of Chief Roxana Kennedy and the Chula Vista Police Foundation, we thank all of our sponsors, donors, staff and volunteers for their generous support and involvement that resulted in contributing to the success of our Evening with Heroes event.
